Water Crisis in
Beit Foureek
Town :
The (15,000)
people of Beit Foureek and nearby Beit Dajan village are suffering
shortage of fresh water due to the absence of water network, despite
the fact that their lands are stretched over the largest underground
water stores in the district , but the Israeli occupation insist to
steal everything, even water. So at the time Jewish settlements
enjoy abundant quantities of our water , Palestinians could hardly
manage with rain waters they tend to collect in winters .
A promising
change had occurred with the emerge of the Palestinian Authority.
We dug a well in the halfway between Beit Foureek and Beit Dajan ,
funded by USAID and the Palestinian Water Authority .Unfortunately ,
a network couldn't have been made due to lack of fund. Two movable
tankers are currently used to deliver water for residents , but
never adequate to meet all the needs especially in the rush days of
the hot summers. It might take several days to provide some
beneficiaries with portions.
Luckily , in
co-ordination with Palestinian Water Authority we obtained the
water network designs and portions tables .It was approved that the
well is a sufficient source to supply the network with the needed
water quantities. The lack of financial aids is the problem now .We
call for all kind-hearted people , key ministries, international
enterprises and NGOs to give a hand to this vital project. |
